Ireland : POWs Refusing Prison Food

Today we are faced with serious and worrying news. Republican POWs on Roe 4 will be refusing to accept prison food, and this action was taken this morning, 13/08/16, and will not end until the three Republican Prisoners kept in isolation are returned to Roe 4.

This course of action was taken in light of the relentless harassment and intimidation handed out by the screws this past two weeks which climaxed a few days ago and resulted in harrowing brutality enforced by the screws which left a number of POWs injured and three POWs dragged off to isolation.

Tensions obviously remain high, a further nine POWs were presented with charges this morning in relation to the incident on Thursday. It is not enough to beat and intimate our prisoners, now they will accuse them of the wrong doing, when in fact it was the bare naked aggression of the prison authorities who were to blame, and who are to blame for the continuation of conflict and ultimately it must be realised that those in a position of “power” will bear the full responsibility and consequences of their actions.
