STF Jawan Injured During Firefight With Naxalites In Sukma District

Sukma District, March 2, 2022: A jawan from the Special Task Force (STF) of the Chhattisgarh Police was injured in a firefight between Naxalites and security forces in Sukma district, police said on Tuesday.

The encounter took place after Naxalites opened fire with rifles and under-barrel grenade launchers (UBGLs) at a new police camp on Monday night in Potakpalli village, Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma said. The STF and other units were stationed in the camp, established last month in Potakpalli, considered a core area of Maoists.

The exchange of fire lasted for around two hours, following which the Naxalites escaped into dense forests, the officer said.

The STF trooper sustained minor injury in the skirmish and was treated in the camp itself, Sharma said, adding that he was now normal.
