Security Forces Apprehend Sub Zonal Commander Of CPI (Maoist) In Latehar District

Latehar District, March 20, 2023: Security forces arrested a high ranking CPI (Maoist) cadre from Herhanj of Jharkhand’s Latehar district on March 18; as per the reports acting on a tip-off, Latehar police have detained a sub-zonal commander of the CPI (Maoist).

The arrested commander has been identified as Chandan Khairwar aka Vaidyanath Singh aka Sanjeevan ji, of the CPI (Maoist). It’s been reported that Chandan has been active in the Maoist party for some time.

Briefing the media on the development, SP Latehar, Anjani Anjan said that “a sub-zonal commander identified as Chandan Khairwar of the CPI (Maoist) has been arrested from the Sikid area of Herhanj. Two Insas rifles, seven loaded magazines along with 370 live cartridges have been recovered from his possession.”

It’s been reported that Chandan was planning to revive the Maoist party’s influence, which has been facing the backslash of the security forces in the Maoist affected regions of the mineral-rich State.
