Police Report 3 Naxalites Killed In Skirmish With Security Forces In Sukma District

Sukma District, January 9, 2025: Three Naxalites were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Thursday, a police official announced to the press today.

According to the police officials report the Maoists were killed during an anti-Naxal search operation conducted by the District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force of the State Police and members of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action, an elite CRPF unit.

As per the police officials report the security personnel began their combing operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of leading cadres of the Maoist party in the border areas of Sukma and Bijapur districts.

The police official concluded his remarks by stating that “During the operation, on 1/9/2025, at around 10:00 a.m., an encounter started between security forces and Maoists in the jungle hill between village Paliguda-Gundrajgudem, which continued intermittently. After the end of the encounter, when all the teams searched, the bodies of three male Maoists were recovered along with BGL launcher, other weapons, a large amount of explosives and Naxal material was found.”

The action comes days after an IED blast killed eight security personnel in neighboring Bijapur district.
