Police Officials Say 3 Security Personnel Injured In Skirmish With Naxalites In Bijapur District

Bijapur District, December 6, 2024: Three security personnel sustained minor injuries in an encounter with a squad of armed Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, a police official announced to the press today.

The exchange of fire took place on Thursday night when the security personnel were positioned in the outer cordon of a newly-set up police camp near Jhidpalli village under Pamed police station area, the police official declared in his statement.

The skirmish broke around 8.30 pm on Thursday and lasted for about one-and-a-half hours. The Naxalites fired shells out of barrel grenade launchers, followed by retaliatory gunfire by security personnel, the police official claimed.

“Three security personnel sustained minor injuries due to splinters in the encounter and were provided first aid at the police camp,” the police official stated.

The police official concluded his remarks by saying that the police camp was set up on Monday in the area considered a stronghold of Naxalites.
