Police In Mulugu District Report 7 CPI (Maoist) Cadres Killed In Firefight With Security Forces

Mulugu District, December 1, 2024: According to sources in the Mulugu district police, seven cadres of the Maoist party were killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in the Chalpaka forest area along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh State border on Sunday morning.

According to reliable information furnished to the press by sources in the district police, the site of the encounter was reportedly under the jurisdiction of the Eturunagaram police station limits of Telangana’s Mulugu District.

The deceased persons alleged to be Maoists by the police have been identified preliminarily as Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru, Commander of the Illandu-Narsampet Area Committee of the CPI (Maoist), and Papanna Egolapu Mallaiah alias Madhu, a Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) and Secretary of the Eturnagaram Mahadevpur Area Committee of the Maoist party. The remaining deceased individuals have been identified by the police as Mussaki Deval alias Karunakar, Mussaki Jamuna, both purportedly Area Committee Members (ACMs) of the CPI (Maoist), and Jaisingh, Kishore, and Kamesh, all three supposedly members of the Maoist party.

Speaking to the press today, Mulugu district Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr P Shabarish stated that a joint combing operation was conducted by Mulugu District Police and the Telangana State Police’s elite Greyhound unit in the bordering areas of Chhattisgarh State, based on reliable intelligence inputs concerning the movement of Maoist formations in the area.

During the combing operation early Sunday morning, a squad of Maoist cadres allegedly opened fire on the security personnel, following which a fierce exchange of fire ensued. Following the gun battle, police claim that the bodies of seven Maoists, along with weapons and Maoist-related items were recovered from the site of the encounter, which is located within the jurisdiction of the Eturunagaram Police Station.

The SP further stated that the security forces are still continuing combing operations in the deep forest of Eturunagaram, Wazeedu, Peruru, and Venkatapuram Police Station limits.
