From Ang Bayan: NPA Strikes At AFP Troops In Rizal Province
Ang Bayan Ngayon | February 18, 2025
The New People’s Army-Rizal (Narciso Antazo Aramil Command) struck the fascist troops of the 80th IB last February 17 in Sityo Tayabasan, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City, at around 3 p.m. One soldier was killed.
NAAC spokesperson Macario Liwanag (Ka Karyo) said the offensive is “a strike against the troops launching sustained focused military operations that squander public funds and serve as oppressors and nuisance to the area and the people…”
These troops have long been operating in the area, causing trouble and suffering to the people in the locality. Ka Karyo said the 80th IB’s continuing operations in Rizal serve to protect anti-people projects that have displaced farmers and indigenous people in Antipolo City and other towns of Rizal. One of these is the Wawa-Violago Dam owned by the comprador bourgeois Enrique Razon that has displaced many farmers in the barangays of Calawis, Apia and San Jose. The chemicals used by the dam’s treatment plant have contaminated the surrounding streams and poisoned many fish. The dam’s operation continues to devastate the environment, Ka Karyo said.
In addition to the dam, a wind power project threatens to displace more farmers in Antipolo and Tanay.
“The Rizaleños’ continuing and worsening problems remain fertile ground for strengthening the Party and people’s army in Rizal,” Ka Karyo stated. “Holding on to the goal of protecting the interests of the people, the NPA is determined to thwart AFP-PNP operations.”
