CPP: Retired Party Leader Manlimbasog And Wife Osang Were Abducted, Tortured And Brutally Murdered By Agents Of The US-Duterte Terrorist Regime

The entire Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and all revolutionary forces are seething with rage over the abduction, secret detention, torture and cold-blooded murder of retired Party leader Antonio Cabanatan (Kasamang Manlimbasog¹), 74 and wife Florenda Yap (Kasamang Osang), 65.
Their lifeless bodies were left in a military safehouse in Oton, Iloilo on December 26, 2020 after they were murdered by strangulation.
We hold the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and other armed agents of the US-Duterte regime responsible for this brutal crime.
Our indignation over the killing of Ka Manlimbasog and Ka Osang is immeasurable. Elderly and infirm, they were abducted around October last year and secretly imprisoned by the fascist agents. We cannot begin to imagine the cruelty of the psychological and physical torture that they were made to undergo before they were brutally killed.
The vicious killing of Ka Manlimbasog and Ka Osang shows the extent of state terrorism under the tyrant Duterte. It follows the successive brutal murders of Ka Nars (Julius Giron), Ka Fiel (Eugenia Magpantay), Ka Boy (Agaton Topacio) and Ka Randall Echanis in 2020 by Duterte’s blood-thirsty murderers.
Ka Manlimbasog and Ka Osang were both retired from active revolutionary duties after spending their entire life serving the workers and peasants and all the oppressed masses.
Ka Manlimbasog was an esteemed communist who commanded respect with his humility and simplicity. He also known by comrades and by the masses as Ka Susing, Ka Ramon, Ka Domeng and other nom de guerre. He was a beacon of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, in both theory and practice.
He was among the first generation of Filipino communists who helped plant the seeds of the armed revolution across the country. He was among the vanguard of the expansion of the New People’s Army in the Visayas and Mindanao. He helped the peasants and Lumad people struggle against the oppressive and exploitative system and link up with the Filipino people’s struggle for national liberation.
Ka Manlimbasog served as secretary of the Mindanao Commission and was a member of the CPP’s Central Committee, its Political Bureau and Executive Committee until his retirement in 2017.
Hunchbacked and standing less than five foot tall, he was a giant who stood at the forefront of the people’s war, waging guerrilla warfare, recruiting and training Red fighters and young communists.
The entire Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People’s Army and all revolutionary organizations pay the highest tribute to the martyrdom and lifelong service to the proletariat of Ka Manlimbasog. We will forever be inspired by his shining example.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ka Manlimbasog and Ka Osang. We vow to avenge their murders. Duterte and his cabal of terrorists and fascists will be made to pay for their crimes.
