Kiran’s CPN Revolutionary Maoist to take part in local polls
Mar 28, 2017- After its large chunk joined the mother party, Mohan Baidhya-led CPN Revolutionary Maoists is preparing to participate in the elections in the name of Deshbhakta Janaganatantrik Morcha (DJM).
Following the government’s announcement to hold local polls on May 14, the party, which was in dilemma over whether to join or boycott the local polls, had issued a statement to take decision on the polls later.
Led by senior party leader and Vice-chairman CP Gajurel, the DJM includes Pari Thapa and Haribhakta Kandel, among other leaders.
On Monday Chairman Baidhya had presented a political document in the extended meeting of central committee proposing that the party should join the local polls in the name of party’s front –DJM.
The meeting was started on Monday at Om Sai Party Palace of Old Baneswor where the six panels formed yesterday would discuss on Chairman Baidhya’s proposal today.
Gajurel said the party is holding discussions on taking part in the polls and the decision would come today. He said the only agenda of the meeting was to decide whether or not to take part in the polls.
Since the Morcha has not been registered in the Election Commission, the party would fight in the election as independent candidates and forging alliance with patriotic parties.
Leaders Bajgain claimed that the DJM would forge alliance with the forces other than Maoist Centre, CPN-UML, RPP and Nepali Congress.
