Biplav Maoists’ student wing: We have no role in school explosions

Kathmandu, September 20 : Explosions at two schools in Kathmandu have put the Biplav-led CPN(Maoist) in a difficult situation.

This, because these blasts have occurred a day before the expiry of the 10-day ultimatum that the party-affiliated ANNISU-R issued while announcing its education strike.

Many people are questioning the party about the timing of the blasts, which came a day before the expiry of the ultimatum. Thus, the explosions have leaders of the party-affiliated ANNISU-R in a difficult position.

The party has said it has no role in the blast and felt the need to come up with a policy regarding bombs. Dipendra Chalaune, general secretary of the party’s student wing ANNISU-R, said: Even if we have to carry bombs and guns, we will not carry out blasts at schools.

Suspicions that we planted bombs in those schools are wrong.

We have no role whatsoever in the blasts. Chalaune said: Suspicions that we planted bombs (in those schools) are wrong. Our 10-day ultimatum regarding the education strike expires tomorrow. We have no role whatsoever in the blasts.

He said: Even if we have to go for a revolt, we will not engage in activities that affect young minds. We are holding discussions along these lines.

The Biplav Maoists have been threatening to launch an armed revolt.

We can say we will not plant bombs at schools that are operating in accordance with the law of the land. But we cannot say the same about Indian schools, which have been challenging nationalism, if the government does not rein in them.

Responding to a question, Chalaune said: We can say we will not plant bombs at schools that are operating in accordance with the law of the land. But we cannot say the same about Indian schools, which have been challenging nationalism, if the government does not rein in them.

He said they are ready to help the state identify elements that planted bombs at schools.
