Firefight Underway Between Security Personnel And Alleged Naxalites Along Narayanpur-Dantewada Inter-district Border

Raipur District, January 4, 2025: An encounter broke out between security personnel and armed persons presumed to be Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Saturday, the Inspector-General of Police, Bastar, P Sundarraj announced to the press today.

The IGP declared in his report that the firefight began at around 6pm in the forest of south Abujhmaad along the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts when a joint team of security personnel was carrying out an anti-Naxalite operation.

According to the IGP’s report, personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard from four districts and a Special Task Force are involved in the operation.

The IGP finished his remarks by stating that the intermittent exchange of fire was still underway, adding that further details are awaited.
