DRG Jawan Killed In Firefight With Naxalites In Narayanpur District

Narayanpur District, December 4, 2024: A District Reserve Guard (DRG) head constable was killed in an encounter with a squad of armed Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Wednesday, a senior police official announced to the press today.

According to the police official the firefight broke out at around 1 pm in the forest on the border of Sonpur and Kohkameta police station areas in Abujhmad region when a joint team of security personnel was conducting an anti-Naxal operation.

The police official declared that DRG and Border Security Force personnel were involved in the combing operation that was launched on Tuesday.

The intermittent exchange of fire between the security forces and the alleged Naxalites lasted till late evening, the police official stated.

“Birendra Kumar Sori, head constable of DRG Narayanpur, was killed in the gun battle”, the police official remarked in his statement to the press.

The body of the slain DRG jawan was being shifted out of the forest, the police official said, adding that a search operation was still underway in the area of the skirmish.
