CRPF Jawan Killed During Encounter With CPI (Maoist) Squad In West Singhbhum District

West Singhbhum District, August 11, 2023: One CRPF jawan was killed and another was injured in a skirmish with a squad of CPI (Maoist) cadres in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district on Friday, a senior police officer said.

The encounter broke out around 11 am in a forest in the Tonto area, about 160 km from the state capital Ranchi, when a team of police and CRPF personnel were carrying out a joint search operation against the Maoists, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar told PTI.

“Two CRPF jawans, identified as Sushant Kumar and Munna, sustained bullet injuries during the firefight. They were airlifted to Ranchi for better treatment, but Sushant succumbed to his injuries,” he declared.

The SP stated that the condition of the other jawan is stable, according to the doctors.

A senior police officer noted that Sushant had received a bullet in the chest during the gunfight, while Munna was hit in the leg.
