CPP Statement On Recent NPA Tactical Offensives In Negros And Masbate

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) applauds the units of the New People’s Army (NPA) which staged tactical offensives on the islands of Negros and Masbate over the past few days by way of defending the peasant masses against abuses perpetrated by the military and police forces of the Marcos fascist regime.

Amid heightened attacks and abuses carried out by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) against the broad masses, especially in the countryside, it is but just and urgent for the NPA to carry out armed struggle to defend the rights and interests of the people.

Military and police abuses on Masbate island have intensified over the past months amid the push of the Filminera Mining Company to expand its gold mining operations which would dislocate farmers and damage the environment.

On Negros, military and police abuses continue to run rampant as several battalions of military troops occupy and hamlet rural villages to suppress the demand of the peasant masses and farm workers for land and higher wages.

Units of the NPA across the country should carry out more tactical offensives to fight the brutal fascist attacks carried out by the Marcos regime against the people, and frustrate the enemy’s strategic offensives.

The Party calls on all units of the NPA across the country to continue strengthening and expanding its ties with the peasant masses, help build their organized strength, wage struggles for land reform and carry out widespread guerrilla warfare.
