CPI (Maoist) Squad Sabotage Railway Track In Girirdih District
Girirdih District, January 27, 2022: A portion of railway track in Jharkhand’s Giridih district was damaged due to a blast that was triggered by cadres of the CPI (Maoist) in the early hours of Thursday, an official said.
Train services on the Howrah-New Delhi route were disrupted for around six hours after the explosion, RPF Dhanbad Senior Commandant Hemant Kumar said.
“A rail track between Chichaki and Chaudharybandh stations was damaged in the blast that was triggered by the Maoists,” he said.
Train services between the two stations were stopped at 12.30 am after the explosion and restored around 6.30 am, he said.
“The panel clip of the rail track was damaged. Several trains on the route were diverted,” the official said.
The sabotage action was a part of a day-long bandh carried out by the CPI (Maoist) to protest the arrest of top leader Prashant Bose and his wife Sheela Marandi. The day-long bandh was preceded with Resistance Day observed by the Maoist party from January 21 to January 26 during which the Maoists blew up two mobile towers in Giridih District on the intervening night of January 21-January 22 and again blew up a bridge on the night of January 22/23 in the same district. They again blasted a mobile tower in the Kharki Area of Vishnugarh Block of Hazaribagh district on the morning of January 26 and also hoisted black flags on January 25 in Dumri and Madhuban police station areas of Girdih district.
Bose was the mastermind behind more than 100 actions carried out by cadres of the CPI (Maoist) in Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Giridih Superintendent of Police Amit Renu reached the spot after the blast, and an investigation had been initiated, an officer said.
