CPI (Maoist) Squad Exchange Fire With Security Forces In Lohardaga District

Lohardaga District, February 14, 2022: There was a heavy exchange of fire on Sunday between security forces and a squad of cadres belonging to the CPI (Maoist) who are reportedly holed up in Bulbul forests under Pesrar police station area in Lohardaga district.

According to sources the encounter took place near Bulbul nullah in the early morning of Sunday. Security forces recovered weapons, bullets, and backpacks of Maoists who were forced to retreat. As the gunfire started, a military chopper was put on alert to stay ready for evacuation if required. Sources said that encounters intermittently took place.

As many as 400 CRPF personnel have been pressed in the anti-Maoist operation on getting information about the movement of the armed squad of CPI (Maoist) Zonal Commander Ravindra Gonjhu. On Saturday, the security forces busted a bunker of Maoists in the Bulbul forest area.

On Saturday a CRPF jawan from 209th CoBRA battalion was injured in a landmine blast. He was flown to Ranchi and admitted to Medica hospital where his condition is stable.

This incident took place after security forces busted a bunker of CPI (Maoist) which was used as a hideout as well as to manufacture explosives.

On Friday two jawans of the CRPF Dilip Kumar and Narayan Das were injured in a landmine blast. They were flown to Medica hospital in Ranchi where they are undergoing treatment. However, Dilip lost his leg where another jawan suffered injuries on his waist. The CRPF team was returning after the anti-Maoist operation at Bisunpur in Gumla district when the explosion took place in the morning. Narayan Das is a native of Odisha whereas Dilip is a native of Jammu.
