CPI (Maoist) Squad Battles Security Forces In Bijapur District

Bijapur District, June 23, 2023: An encounter broke out between troops of the CRPF, CoBRA and a squad of CPI (Maoist) cadres on Friday evening in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said. No casualties have been reported in the incident.

According to the police, CRPF and CoBRA troops from the Hiroli camp (Gangaloor Police Station, Bijapur District) were out towards Dumripalnar jungle for area domination operations. Police said that at around 5 PM, CPI (Maoist) cadres fired three rounds of BGL targeting the troops from the outskirts of Hiroli village and Dumripalanar jungle.

“CRPF and CoBRA jawans then fired back, and within a few minutes the Maoists fled away from the spot. There were no injuries to any of our men,” Bijapur police said. Police said that the situation is normal and a search operation is being carried out in nearby areas.
