6 Alleged Sympathizers Of The CPI (Maoist) Taken Into Police Custody In Bhadradri Kothagudem District

Bhadradri Kothagudem District, November 9, 2024: Six individuals believed by police to be sympathizers of the CPI (Maoist) were taken into custody by Cherla police, special party personnel and CRPF 141 C battalion near Taliperu project in Cherla mandal in the district today.

Manugur DSP V Ravindra Reddy declared in a statement that the security personnel, who were engaged in an area domination operation in a forest area near the project, spotted six persons and detained them. The police found a pressure cooker bomb with electric wires connected to it.

Upon questioning the arrested persons claimed that they were sympathizers of the Maoist party, and that they had blasted a pressure cooker bomb on October 17 at Gorukonda area targeting security personnel. Police seized the pressure cooker bomb from their possession, DSP Reddy said in the statement.

Police have identified the detainees as Madakam Deva, Sodi Unga, Sodi Kosa, Madakam Idma, Kaluma Aduma and Kovvasi Bhimaiah of Chennapuram village of Cherla mandal, DSP Reddy revealed in the statement.

Senior CRPF officials Rajesh Dogra and S Singaravel, Cherla SHO A Raju Varma and SI R Narsi Reddy were present as the statement was read to the press.
