5 CPI (Maoist) Cadres Arrested By Security Forces In Sukma District
Sukma District, August 13, 2024: Five cadres of the CPI (Maoist) were arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, a police official announced to the press today.
The Maoists were apprehended from a forest near Chikometta village by a joint team of security forces on Monday, the police official commented.
An official of Sukma District Police said, “A joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), CRPF’s 165th battalion and local police conducted an anti-Maoist operation yesterday in which five Maoists, including a woman, were arrested”.
Among those arrested, Uika Chaitu (30), a resident of Jagargunda area, was an active Area Committee Member of the Maoist party in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra state. The remaining Maoists taken into custody by security personnel have been identified as Kunjam Sukhlal (35), Padam Hunga (35), Padam Sannu (35) and a woman cadre, Uika Lakhe, the police official stated.
The joint team of security personnel has seized various explosives and other Maoist-related items from the five detained Maoist cadres. The explosives were allegedly carried by the Maoists for use in targeting security personnel, the police official added.
