4 CPI (Maoist) Cadres Killed Fighting Police In West Singhbhum District

West Singhbhum District, June 17, 2024: At least four cadres of the CPI (Maoist) were killed in an encounter with police in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district in the early morning hours of June 17, a police official announced to the press today.

The incident took place in Tonto and Goilkera area, the police official declared.

“Four Maoists were killed in the firefight, while two have been arrested,” Jharkhand Police spokesperson and IG (Operations), Amol V. Homkar, told PTI.

Among the four Maoists killed in the skirmish, one was a zonal commander, one a sub-zonal commander, one an area commander and one a cadre of the Maoist party, the IG commented.

Two Maoists were also arrested and one of them is an area commander of the Maoist party, the police official remarked

Another police official informed the press that the gun battle took place while police were out on a search operation when the Maoists, who were lying in ambush, started firing and police returned fire resulting in the deaths of four Maoists.

The police official concluded by saying that the search operation is still going on.
