3 Alleged Cadres Of The CPI (Maoist) Taken Into Police Custody In Bhadradri Kothagudem District

Bhadradri Kothagudem District, September 23, 2024: Three individuals purported to be cadres of the CPI (Maoist) were arrested by the Charla police in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday, a police official announced to the press today.

According to the police official the detainees have been identified as Kartam Joga alias Rajesh, 55, supposedly the present in-charge of the Technical Department and Military Wing of the Maoist party’s Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) in South Bastar; Punem Jogal, 20, reportedly a member of a Local Organization Squad (LOS) of the Maoist party in Basaguda, Chhattisgarh; and Geetha Gayatri, 43, a native of Charla in Telangana, whom the police claim is a courier for the Maoist party.

Joga was allegedly involved in around 11 separate incidents of exchanges of fire with the police in Chhattisgarh state, including the one at Tadmetla in Dantewada district of the neighboring State, in which 75 CRPF jawans were killed in 2010, the police official stated.

Joga hails from Burkulanka village in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, the police official declared.

Joga and the two other individuals held by police were alleged to have been returning to their forest hideout in Chhattisgarh after undergoing treatment for some health issue in Warangal district, when they were apprehended by the police at Danavaipeta village in Charla mandal on Monday morning, the police official added.
