2 STF Jawans Killed In IED Blast Triggered By CPI (Maoist) Cadres In Bijapur District
Bijapur District, July 18, 2024: Two jawans of the Special Task Force (STF) were killed and four others injured after cadres of the CPI (Maoist) denoted an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, a police official announced to the press today.
The incident took place on Wednesday night in Tarrem area when a joint team of security personnel was returning after an anti-Maoist operation in forests on the tri-junction of Bijapur-Sukma-Dantewada districts, the police official declared.
Personnel of the STF, District Reserve Guard – both state police units, Central Reserve Police Force and its elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) were involved in the operation, launched on Tuesday based on intelligence inputs about the presence of cadres belonging to the Darbha and west Bastar divisions and military company no.2 of the Maoist party, the police official remarked.
“Two STF constables — Bharat Sahu, resident of Raipur, and Satyer Singh Kange, of Narayanpur district — were killed in the blast triggered by the Maoists, while four other security personnel sustained injuries,” the police official stated.
Reinforcements were rushed to the area following the incident and the injured personnel were shifted to Bijapur district hospital, the police official concluded, adding that the injured jawans will be airlifted to state capital Raipur for further treatment.
