2 Police Officers Killed In Skirmish With Cadres Of CPI (Maoist) In West Singhbhum District

West Singhbhum District, August 15, 2023: Two Jharkhand Police personnel were killed during an encounter with armed cadres of the CPI (Maoist) in the West Singhbhum district Monday morning, the police reported on Tuesday.

West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar said the skirmish took place while a joint operation was being conducted by security forces on August 14 in the hilly and forested areas between Tumbahaka and Sarjomburu under the Tonto police station.

“As part of the campaign, a confrontation took place between armed cadres of the CPI (Maoist) and the security forces in the mountainous and forested area between Tumbahaka and Sarjomburu under Tonto police station, in which Jharkhand Jaguar’s Amit Tiwari and Gautam Kumar were killed,” Shekhar said.

SI Amit Tiwari was a resident of Tolra village of Rehla block of Palamu district. Kumar was a resident of Randhadih village of Shahpur block of the Bhojpur district of Bihar.
