2 CPI (Maoist) Cadres Killed In Battle With Police In Dantewada District
Dantewada District, September 20, 2023: Two cadres belonging to the CPI (Maoist) were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Wednesday, police announced to the public today.
The skirmish took place around 7 am in the forest of Aranpur police station limits when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel, a unit of state police, was out on an anti-Maoist operation, a senior police official told PTI.
The security personnel launched the operation after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of cadres belonging to the Darbha Division of the CPI (Maoist) near Nagaram-Poro Hirma jungles along the Dantewada-Sukma inter-district border, he said.
When the patrolling team was cordoning off the area, an exchange of fire broke out between the two sides, he reported.
Following the gun battle, the bodies of two Maoists along with one “Insas rifle and one 12 bore rifle” were recovered from the spot, the official commented.
A search operation was underway in the area, he added.
