10 CPI (Maoist) Cadres Killed While Fighting Security Forces Along Border Of Narayanpur and Kanker Districts

Raipur District, April 30, 2024: Ten cadres of the CPI (Maoist) were killed in an encounter with security personnel in a forest along the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts in Chhattisgarh state on April 30, State Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma announced to the press today.

The encounter took place around 6 am in the forest between Tekmeta and Kakur villages in Abhujmad area, a Maoist stronghold, when a joint team of the state police’s District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force was out on an anti-Maoist operation, a senior police official declared.

The operation had been launched on Monday night based on intelligence inputs about the presence of armed Maoists in the region, the police official stated.

Following the firefight, the bodies of ten Maoists were recovered from the site, the police official remarked.

An AK-47 rifle and an INSAS rifle besides other arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the area of the skirmish, the police official said, adding that the identity of the slain Maoists was yet to be ascertained.
