1 CPI (Maoist) Cadre Killed In Firefight With Security Forces In Sukma District

Sukma District, July 20, 2024: A cadre of the CPI (Maoist) was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Saturday, a police official announced to the press today.

The firefight took place in a jungle area on a hill near Tumar Gatta and Singavaram villages under Jagargunda police station limits in the morning when a team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Maoist operation, the police official declared.

The operation was launched on the night of July 19, following intelligence inputs about the presence of cadres belonging to the Jagargunda Area Committee of the Maoist party in the area, the police official commented.

“After the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a Maoist, along with one muzzle-loading gun, a wireless set, explosives and Maoist-related material were recovered from the spot,” the police official said, adding that a search operation was still underway in the area.
