HPG: 74 soldiers killed in Çukurca

HPG Media Center announced the results of the clashes that that took place between Turkish soldiers and guerilla units near the Martyr Colemerg hill of Hakkari’s Çukurca district between October 5 and 8.

HPG stated that the clashes had begun when Turkish soldiers attempted to infiltrate Martyr Colemerg on the morning of October 5, and 10 soldiers were killed during the clashes that broke out during this infiltration attempt. Communications with a guerilla unit has been cut since the clashes that reached their peak around noon on the same day.

Guerillas carried out an action against the soldiers that attempted to advance in the same area at 02:30 on October 6, and 7 soldiers were killed here. 6 more soldiers were killed when they attempted to advance in the same area around 10:00 on the same day, and 1 guerilla fell as martyr during these clashes. 9 more soldiers were killed when Turkish soldiers tried to infiltrate the same area on October 7.

HPG stated that intense clashes broke out between guerillas and the soldiers that infiltrated Havan hill at 00:00 on October 8, and many soldiers were killed and 4 guerillas were injured during these clashes. Guerillas encircled 2 soldier units here and 15 more soldiers were killed during the clashes here.

Skorsky helicopters attempting to deploy soldiers on Koordine hill on October 7 were hit and forced to retreat by guerillas. Clashes broke out around Koordine hill around 01:00 on the same day and lasted until 07:00. More than 20 soldiers were killed during these clashes, and the guerillas carried out a sabotage action against reinforcement soldiers. 4 soldiers were killed and another one was injured during this sabotage action. 3 guerillas fell as martyrs and communication with a guerilla unit were cut off during the clashes here.

Lastly, 3 soldiers were killed during a guerilla action against the soldiers at Havan hill around 09:30 on October 8.

In total, 74 soldiers were killed and many others were injured during the clashes in Hakkari between October 5 and 8. 7 HPG guerillas fell as martyrs during the clashes in Hakkari.
