CPI (Maoist) Cadre Allegedly Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In Sukma District

Sukma District, September 14, 2024: A cadre of the CPI (Maoist) was allegedly killed in a skirmish between security forces and a squad of individuals purportedly belonging to the Maoist party in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Saturday, a police official announced to the press today.

“The encounter took place early in the morning in the jungles on a hill near Tumalpad village under Chintagufa police station limits when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Maoist operation,” Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan declared.

“Personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters — both units of the State police and district force — were involved in the operation,” the police official stated.

“After the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a CPI (Maoist) cadre was recovered along with a weapon and a huge cache of Maoist-related material from the spot,” the police official claimed, adding that the identity of the deceased person presumed to be a Maoist is yet to be ascertained and that a search operation is still underway in the area.
