CPI (Maoist) Cadre Killed In Skirmish With Security Personnel In Dantewada District

Dantewada District, August 11, 2024: A cadre of the CPI (Maoist) was killed in a skirmish with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, a police official official announced to the press today.

According to the police official, the encounter took place in the Gidaam police station area on Saturday during a combing operation initiated by security personnel after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of armed Maoists in the forests near Ikeli, Nelgoda, and Tumnar villages.

Units from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters, along with state police, took part in the anti-Maoist operation, the police official stated.

During the combing operation the security forces came under fire from a squad of cadres belonging to the Maoist party. The security personnel immediately retaliated. After a fierce gun battle the Maoists fled from the spot into the dense forest, the police official declared.

Following the encounter, the security forces conducted a search operation and recovered the body of a Maoist cadre. A weapon and other materials were also seized. The deceased Maoist was identified as a member of Platoon No. 16 of the CPI (Maoist), the police official said, adding that his identity has yet to be established conclusively.

The police official finished by saying that a search operation was still underway in the area.
