3 CPI (Maoist) Cadres Killed In Action Battling Security Forces In Gadchiroli District
Gadchiroli District, May 13, 2024: Three cadres of the CPI (Maoist) were killed in a skirmish with security forces in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district on Monday, a police official announced to the press today.
An intelligence input was received that some members of the Perimili Dalam of the Maoist party were camping in a forest near Katrangatta village in Bhamragad taluka with an aim to carry out subversive activities during their ongoing Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) period, Superintendent of Police Neelotpal commented.
Based on this intelligence, two units of C-60 commandos, a specialized combat wing of the Gadchiroli district police, were immediately dispatched for a search operation in the area, the police official declared.
While the teams were carrying out the search operation, a squad of Maoists fired at them indiscriminately, to which the C-60 personnel retaliated, the police official remarked.
After the firing stopped, the bodies of three Maoist cadres were recovered from the spot, the police official stated.
One of the slain Maoists was identified as Vasu, in-charge and commander of the Perimili Dalam, the police official said.
An AK-47 rifle, a carbine, an INSAS rifle, Maoist literature and items were also found at the site of the encounter, the police official concluded, adding that an ongoing anti-Maoist operation was underway in the area.
The CPI (Maoist) undertakes it’s Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign from March-June to strengthen their cadres and launch major attacks on security forces as forests are devoid of green cover, thereby increasing visibility.
