CPI (Maoist) Cadre Killed During Encounter With Police In Balaghat District
Balaghat District, September 29, 2023: A 25-year-old cadre of the CPI (Maoist) was killed in an encounter with an elite combat unit of the Madhya Pradesh police in the state’s Balaghat district on Friday morning, a senior official said.
The Maoist, identified as Kamlu, was an active member of the ‘Naxali Dalam Tanda Dadekasa’ unit of the Maoist party, he commented.
The encounter took place when the state police’s elite Hawk Force was carrying out a search operation in the Kundal-Koddapar and Sounguda forest areas under the Roopjhar police station, the official continued.
A squad of 10-12 Maoists fired at the Hawk Force jawans, who retaliated, resulting in the gunning down of Kamlu, he stated.
Confirming the incident, Balaghat Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh said that some more Maoists were injured in the skirmish and the search has been intensified to locate them.
Another official said a rifle of .30-06 make was recovered from the slain Maoist, who is a resident of Bijapur village in the state and was a member of the Maoist party since 2015.
