CAF Trooper Injured By IED Planted By Naxalites In Bijapur District
Bijapur District, May 15, 2022: A trooper of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) was injured on Saturday after a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Bijapur district.
The incident occurred around 11 am near Pandemurga where a road opening party of the CAF’s 8th Battalion was patrolling, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P said.
When the patrolling team was cordoning the route ahead of Pandemurga, constable Ramnath Maurya stepped on a pressure IED connection, triggering the blast, the officer said.
Maurya, who sustained serious injuries on his legs, was shifted to a primary health centre at Nelasnar, from where he was referred to the Dantewada district hospital.
After preliminary treatment there, the jawan was airlifted to Raipur for further medical care.
A search operation is currently underway in the area, the police added.
